Wednesday Night Carving

Next week Wednesday is October 31, 2012 and Halloween. There will be no carving at the school as the school will be secured to prevent possible vandalism. Stay home and be safe, hand out some candy and look after your own house. See you at 10 AM, November 3, 2012 at our Saturday meeting. Our Next Wednesday carving session will be on November 7, 2012.

Financial Report:

                  Income $ 418.50 Expenses $ 334.00 Bank balance: $7586.12

Membership Report: 

                 27 members have paid their dues for this year.

                  A reminder that current annual fee is $30.00 and due.

                  Discussion on updating  current membership list.

Show Committee Report:

                  The committee will meet on Wednesday  November3,2012  at 7:00pm

Raffle Committee:

Report presented by Ken Smorang.

  We are applying for a license and the prizes for this year’s raffle are a sport fish, loon and ducklings. 

Tickets  are $2.00 each or $3.00 for 5. 

                  We are on the Abbotsford Art Council’s  E mail list.

  We have secured a space in the Sportsman show and the Log home show at a cost of 2 for 1 at the Tradex  Exhibition

Discussion was held over establishing a buy and sell page.

MSC That we establish a Buy and Sell page for CFVC members dedicated to the sale of carvings and carving related materials.   Rolf Zeller, Stu Holmes.  Carried

Discussion over the wording in the “OUR ORIGIN” section  of the Web Page. Rick will edit the segment to conform to today’s  acceptable language and forward it to Rolf.

Discussion on the member gallery  of the page . Requesting more members Bio’s and pictures of carvings.

New Business:

                  Discussion on the merits of joining the Chilliwack Art Council.

MSC          That we join the Chilliwack Art Council.  Bonnie Sorenson, Jean Thiessen, carried

                  NWCA minutes  for September are placed in the Library.

                  NWCA annual show is Nov.10-11 particulars are in their minutes.

 CHIP BIN is having a clear out sale on Ramelson Palm tools at $10.00 reg $18+.

Bonnie donated a book on carving miniature birds  to the Library.

Noted as received advertising for ballpoint pens.

KMS wood show Coquitlam store October 18-20, 2012 8Am-6PM.

Bonnie reported that the carvers at the Sorrento seminar obtained their YELLOW CEDAR from

50/50 Draw:

$30.00 was raised.  $15.00 was won by Ken Smorang , several non-monetary prizes were won by other

Members.

Show and Tell:

Ten carvings were brought for this month’s  presentation.
